I was appalled at the actual experience endured during my stay here comparing against some really positive reviews read here on this homestay. I stayed here with my family and was horrified at the way things were managed here and the condition of the rooms itself. We took 3 rooms in this homestay, and as some reviews here state, the actual size of the room are rather small. Size aside, as we were okay to have smaller sized rooms, the condition of the toilets were really bad with broken toilet bowls and as some other reviews have stated, really small towels. When we arrived, a man collected our passports to make copies of it, and while they allowed the rest of the family to enter the rooms first, I stayed behind to collect the passports once they were done making copies-and boy was that a wrong decision, I was made to wait for an hour for them to make copies of the passports and OCI documents! An hour of vacation time spend waiting in their reception area and they were really very slow in going about matters. Another male staff actually came up to us and demanded that we pay the remainder money on the spot (we booked through a travel agency and had made full payment), and we had to call the travel agent who confirmed that full payment had been made to them and told them so as well, to which they then agreed. Imagine the horror of having to wait for an hour for passports and OCIs to be photocopied then on top of that payment being demanded from us knowing fully well that the travel agency had been liaising with them at all times. Not helpful at all. Breakfast was served at their own pace although we had children with us and they told us breakfast would be served at 9am, resulting in hungry, cranky kids in a tight, crammy dining area. Certainly not an experience I would want to relive again and not a place which is child and family friendly, unlike other homestays I have been to. Bad customer service, musty crammed up rooms and broken toilets, definitely not an idea of a good holiday.

Very disappointed with the stay here after our previous locations. We didnt meet the owner but were greeted by a staff member who, unusually from my experience here, wore a dirty shirt. The room only just contained the two of us,a small desk, two suitcases and a small lizard! The bathroom was small and scruffy with the cistern lid broken and the hot tap on the shower seized closed. Breakfast was simply rice and a dhal but didn't include fruit. This was also the first place to actually charge us for the bottled water we had. We only had one night here but if it had been longer would have paid to go elsewhere.

This is a major highlight of my trip to India so far! We had the great pleasure of living with Mr. Babu, his wife Regina and their grandchildren’s on the backwater village of kumarakom in the backwaters of kottayam Kerala. .There are a number of family homes involved in kumarakom but I totally feel I scored with getting to stay in coconut creek. When i phoned up, Babu answered the phone. His home was the cheapest option at 2000 rupees per night which includes accommodation in his family home and with breakfast. It was a double room (twin beds put together), very comfortable and clean with fan and its own bathroom with shower. This was in December which was peak season. He told me to take the ferry from muhamma boat jetty which was about a one hour journey through the backwaters which was a fabulous experience in itself and when I landed on the island, (you can take a tuc tuc which only takes 15 minutes but don't get to experience of travelling with locals through the backwaters) I followed his directions and walked 7 minutes to his home and his two beautiful, care taker Lalichan was there to greet me. He had moderate English and beautiful manners and at such a young age a massive knowledge and love for their village and community. A passion I rarely see expressed in such a genuine and humble way. . A highly intelligent and cultured man, we had great conversations about Indian politics and life, religion and most close to his heart, he shared with me the love of his family and his island. Truly rare to see such depth of love. We stayed two nights and wished I could have stayed more Totally recommend this coconut creek homestay and adventures into the backwaters of Kerala.

The property is not on the lake or canal. Given that the main draw is to experience the backwater, on my next visit I would pick one of the numerous places along the water. The rooms are tiny except for one. The bathrooms are tinier. One bathroom does not even have separate shower/bath area. Sink, toilet, shower all in one closet sized space. The shared dining room is small too. Super stingy on towels and basic toiletries. By toiletries I mean hotel-sized soap bars; I am not talking about anything fancier. The rooms are clean but signs of age everywhere. Wifi was spotty and you have to like them on facebook to get wifi password. Food choice is extremely limited and quality average at best. Also no alcohol consumption allowed. The garden is nice as shown in the pictures. But make sure you have plenty of mosquito repellant on hand when enjoying the garden. This is not critique of the property but the backwaters in general are natural habitat for mosquitoes to breed. The owners (who live on site) and management were unresponsive and their indifference and rudeness especially stood out because everyone we came across in Kerala were very warm, welcoming and hospitable people. The folks at this property were content to rest on the laurels of government tourism awards they received in the past that are conspicuously displayed everywhere. My sense is that this place was somewhat of a pioneer back in the day when backwater tourism was gaining popularity but are woefully behind today's standards. What was worse is that we got the feeling that the source of rudeness was partly due to weird reverse-racism towards non-whites. Go figure. We stayed in a couple of other homestays on this trip to Kerala, which were so good that this experience was even more disappointing.

Definitely Coconut Creek was our favorite home stay experience during our Kerala trip. Since I was travelling with family this time, I have to choose a home stay instead of hotels and resorts. The Home stay is beautiful and it’s unique by its treatment and experience. Coconut Creek has breathtaking views. This home stay is run by a couple Mr.Babu and Mrs.Regina. The staff is attentive and friendly.I always felt that Im in my home. The authentic Kerala food was excellent and the welcome drink was also delicious. Definitely stay here, if you are looking for tranquil and hygienic place. Even their prize was suitable for our budget. They will help you to find a sunrise cruise or a house boat stay for the best prizes! They have their own country boat in their property, and they offered a cruise in their country boat for a cheaper prize. My kids and family enjoyed every bit of Coconut creek. Of course, Im gonna come back to stay at this beautiful property again! Thank you Babu Uncle and Regina Aunty, for making our vacation wonderful! Recommended at all…
